THE MAN OF MANY TALENTS
‘L’uomo dai Molti Talenti’

This solo is a sequel to my previous exploration ‘The Woman With Two Smiles’ exploring the portrayal of gender dualities of the feminine and masculine and the thoughts, motivations and behaviour of the contemporary man. Drawing on images of familiar male popular culture figures, the work reflects on the perfect image of masculine identity.  It explores boys’ childhood obsessions and how these notions of play and imagination manifest in adult life. It is apparent how, influenced by mass media, many men strive to attain these unachievable images, yet an undercurrent of complexity and individuality threatens to break the ultimate masculine illusion.
